ABOUT

Delfonics is a stationery manufacturer which has been a pioneer in the development of the designed stationery market in Japan since 1987. We create stationery that combines practical utility with design, and its unique design approach has been valued not only from the stationery market but from other markets such as the fashion industry.

Up until now we have designed and created over 4,000 original stationery and related items, including our flagship products: pens and notebooks.

HISTORY

We have been aiming to create and present the stationery as a culture since we started manufacturing.

1987: Start producing the first products, diaries.
1988: Establish Delfonics co., ltd.
1995: Hold the first exhibition. Becomes recognized as a stationery manufacturer with a unique style.
1997: Open the first company store “Smith” in Shibuya, Tokyo.
2011: Open the first overseas store “Delfonics Paris Louvre” in Paris, France.
2014: Start collaborating with various global brands. Produce the collaborating items with the fashion brand, Carven from France.
Produce the collaborating items with the lifestyle magazine, Monocle from UK.
2017: Deal with shops in more than 10 countries.

REPORT

Rollbahn factory

We visited the factory where the Rollbahn notebooks are manufactured. Hope you will feel the scent of the color ink and paper from the report!

Step 1
The original color ink for Rollbahn
Rich and vibrant colored front cover is one of the features of Rollbahn notebooks. All the colors are printed with the original color ink.
Step 2
The pile of cream-colored grid paper
Inside pages are 5mm grid printed in grey on cream-colored wood-free paper. 900 pieces of paper, which is for 10 notebooks, are cut out at once.
Step 3
The final process by hand
All parts: the colored cover, the cut paper, the back cover with an elastic band, and the clear pockets are sorted in order. They are put together with a spiral ring by hand using a special tool. These final processes are all done by hand while checking the quality of the final products.
